PARKING SERVICES PLATFORM
Seamlessly connect with optimal parking solutions tailored to user needs while providing space owners with lucrative leasing opportunities
web_parke-removebg-preview.png

The demand for parking in Indian metros is increasing day by day. It is very difficult to conveniently plan parking spaces according to demand. Instead of increasing available parking spaces, an effective solution must be used to optimize the use of available spaces. The platform seeks to create a system for better parking, connecting users to the nearest, most convenient parking spots , and to people who own spaces and are looking to lease and earn from it.

PROJECT CHALLENGE
Fulfilling the need for parking spaces while managing traffic flow

#1

Connect users to nearby available parking spots with ease

#2

Provide a platform for users to lease spaces out for parking and help them gain income

#3

Reduce traffic and cruising by regulating parking

#4

Manage land use for parking in an efficient and systematic way

DESIGN STRATEGY
Create a platform for users to find and manage parking

Time Constraint:
As this is a class project, the time given to complete it was limited

Resources:
Limitation on how much I could gain access to

Accessibility:
Limitation on how many people I could reach to for research

MIND MAPPING
Finding a central theme across various parameters

PRIMARY RESEARCH
Using the waterfall method to complete the design process
  • For primary research, I decided to conduct a survey targeting the age range of 18-50

  • While the survey focused on the immediate problems of existing parking services, it also aimed to shed light on the long term impact unorganized parking had on a metropolitan city

SECONDARY RESEARCH
Analyzing other platforms to understand different approaches

RESEARCH INSIGHTS
Why most parking services have lost users after a month
PROBLEMS FOUND
PROPOSED SOLUTION
  • There is not enough regulated parking for four wheeler

  • People tend to cruise on roads while looking for a suitable to place to park. This analysis paralysis leads to increased traffic

  • Finding vehicle once parked, payment, and exiting is chaotic

  • Pre-planned slots for parking with advance booking and navigation to the same

  • Location of the need of the user (shop / mall / other) nearest to the parking area they are parked in and vice versa)

  • Provide better recollection through platform, automate payment and give suggestions

EMPATHY MAPPING
Finding insights into user behaviors, emotions, and goals

Empathy mapping was created after making typical user personas based on the research (both primary and secondary)

CUSTOMER JOURNEY MAPPING
Visualizing different contact points between the user and the platform

Key steps were plotted down throughout the journey. Each high and low were marked to bring out the opportunities available amongst the pain points

INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE
Simplifying hierarchy and connecting different sections
  • Booking section was given as a separate flow for the user to view both current and past bookings

  • There is also an option to view places to go to near a parking space

  • Car parking host section was added as an addition to address space shortage as well add a revenue source for the platform

USER FLOW
Documenting user actions for typical tasks
  • Mobile first responsive approach was chosen since many users use their phones to navigate while riding

  • The flow was simplified as much as possible for users to adapt easily to the platform
